New musical instruments

‘I’m looking for new musical instruments. All objects make sounds, so why should we limit ourselves to the small group of instruments that are used at schools of music? 3D-printers and visual programming languages led to me using micro controllers as the basis for the project that you see here. This is a synthesizer that is made to be used outdoors. While the average synthesizer is restricted to the studio and operated by piano keys – which bear not relation to each other – my synthesizer can be used anywhere thanks to its battery and speaker and is operated by an abstract sequencer. A musician will soon find that they can generate sounds on my instrument that aren’t easily compartmentalised, but that are still very musical. Thanks to the open source hardware used to build the instrument, anyone can replicate it.’
